"A great budget roasting pan!" 2010-02-05
By G. Cole (Columbia, MO)
I snagged this pan a week before Thanksgiving after searching at Target and other big stores. I needed something that included the roasting rack, as well as handles, but was non-stick and reasonably thick, as I didn't want a messy cleanup job, nor did I want the pan warping in the hot oven. I also wanted some sort of "lifters," that I could use to lift and turn the bird (or ham) if needed, that weren't flimsy, and would last over time.

When I received the product, it was boxed properly with no exterior damage, it wasn't in a fancy box or anything of that sort, simply a pan, the rack insert, and one set of 2 lifters. The pan was a good non-stick surface, as was the rack, and the rack sits down on these solid notches so it isn't in *direct* contact with the pan bottom--another plus, for me at least.

Turkey day came and the bird was prepped, along with the oven preheated, and this pan was put to its first use, and one and only test. It was my first oven bird, so it was a bit of a test for both of us.

To make a long review short, the pan, rack and lifters made Thanksgiving preparation so much easier, with a lot less cleanup than was expected! I originally gave the product 4 stars, but while writing the review, bumped it up to 5. I now remember that I didn't just use the pan for turkey--I've used it for a ham, as well as cornish hens. Cleanup is a breeze with the non-stick surface, and the lifters don't have to be used for just this pan. I've used the lifters while smoking meats outside, like pork loin and brisket (they're perfect for getting "under" meats easily, while not poking holes or potentially tearing the meat), without issue.

Overall, the pan is well worth the (what I think to be) small price tag. 5 stars!

 "Was a gift" 2010-01-18

Purchased as a gift for my mother-in-law. She only wishes the pan was a little deeper, but other than that everything is great.

 "Non-stick? I think not." 2009-12-23
By K. Cousins (United States)
I've had this pan for a few years, and have generally found it to be a serviceable roasting pan.

However, this year the non-stick interior coating (which has been babied - no aggressive scrubbing) has ceased its function. After an overnight soak and 30 minutes' scrubbing, we've decided to donate it to Goodwill and invest in something more durable.

 "Thanksgiving Turkey Was Great" 2009-12-21
By Linda A. Tommasulo (Ossining, NY United States)
This roasting pan was perfect for the fresh Thanksgiving turkey I prepared for my family. It was just the right size, and the lifters made handling the large bird easy. I would definitely recommend this item.

 "Size not as indicated" 2009-12-11
By E. Tanguay (Connecticut, USA)
Just received this pan. It looks great and feels like a high quality pan, especially for the price. I tried to ascertain the exact pan size from both Amazon customer service and KitchenAid customer service BEFORE ordering it. I was told by KitchenAid that it was 19" long. I measured the pan - it is only 15 1/2" long. I am very disappointed. Will most likely return it because it is too small.

 "works great" 2009-12-31
By J. Maysonet
I have used my roaster about 3 times already and it has worked great. I don't know from reading some of the comments here that people say their roaster started bubbling. The previous times that I have used it I put water in the roaster when I roasted a ham or ribs.

 "$59.99 Disposable Roaster" 2009-12-11
By AMZDBYGRS (Pacific Northwest)
That is what it should be sold as, use it once and you have to throw it out. Bought this because of the Kitchen Aid Brand. Thought it was one of the best of the best, not anymore. Roasted a turkey, put the cooled pan in water to soak, teflon bubbled and peeled off. Only used cotton dish cloth to wash! GREATLY DISAPPOINTED NO P.......st OFF!

"Knockoff made in China! NOT real KitchenAid! Do not buy!" 2009-10-15
By A Research It Maven (USA)
Having been given this roaster as a gift, I was shocked how junky it is! I respected the old KitchenAid name, but it seems things have changed! Compare features and price of this KitchenAid roaster (CHINA) to the 17" non stick OvenStuff for $19.99! (which is made the USA!). OvenStuff Non-Stick 17.2 Inch x 12.7 Inch x 2.7 Inch Large Roasting Pan with Rack!! The whole OvenStuff line of cookware is fabulous - be sure to check it out!

"Tephlon peels off with oven use" 2009-09-29

Tephlon peels off with oven use only. Placement of handles is very poor making it difficult to open when hot. Would not buy!!

 "Avoid at all costs!" 2009-09-20
By John S. Cate (Raleigh, NC USA)
A friend of mine owned one of these roasters; still does own it, actually, but now it's not useful for anything except a storage bin. She used it a total of nine times in about two and a half years of ownership, for such things as holiday turkeys and hams, and for roasting pork shoulders for pork barbecue. It was on the pork shoulders that the roaster exhibited the same behavior that so many others have reported. The Teflon coating started to bubble and peel, to the point that about 30 percent of the roaster was exposed bare metal. Fortunately, very little of the Teflon got into the meat, and we were able to save it. But the roaster was toast, and KitchenAid refused to replace it. She'd had it too long, even though it had hardly been used. I can only advise others to avoid this product. It clearly, based on our experience and others, has major design flaws.
